Investigating the trophodynamics of parrotfishes on coral reefs

The aim of our research is to clarify the dietary targets of coral reef parrotfishes (Labridae, Scarini)

Our Research

Parrotfish are identified as key ecosystem-engineers due to their bioerosion and sediment generation, and their importance has been integral to theories of coral reef resilience and recovery. However, little was previously known about the nutritional targets that drive parrotfish feeding.
